Our Story
Modern Health Pharmacy is family-owned pharmacy that opened its doors in 1989. We noticed an intense need for a pharmacy that has its sole focus on compounded medications to take care of individual patient and veterinary needs in several dosage forms. You can count on outstanding customer service at an affordable price. Our staff is trained to set the standard in patient care and prides themselves on attention to detail. To determine the needs of our patients, a close triad relationship between the physician, the patient and the pharmacist is crucial. Our staff works closely with the physician and patient to find solutions to individual healthcare challenges.
At Modern Health Pharmacy, we want to help you solve your medication nightmares, not only with competitive prices, but also with the type of service you won’t find in many places. At Modern Health Pharmacy, we think of our patients as part of our own family, not just as a prescription to be filled.
Meet the Owner & CEO
Hi, I’m Shellie, the proud owner of a compounding pharmacy dedicated to empowering women’s health through customized solutions. My journey into pharmacy ownership wasn’t a traditional one—I earned my bachelor’s degree in accounting and worked in the field until the recession in 2010 led to my layoff. While I had always been involved in the pharmacy to some extent, that turning point pushed me to step in full-time, and I quickly realized my passion for the business and the impact it could have on people’s lives.
My family opened this pharmacy in the 1980s, and in 2022, I had the incredible opportunity to purchase it and continue its legacy. Owning the pharmacy is more than just a business to me—it’s a continuation of the hard work and dedication my family put into serving our community for decades. I take great pride in carrying that forward, building on what they started while shaping the pharmacy into something even more impactful for the future.
While I may not be a pharmacist, I’ve worked hard to build a business that goes beyond filling prescriptions. My passion lies in providing personalized care through compounded medications, professional-grade supplements, and functional health approaches. I believe that healthcare should never be one-size-fits-all, and my mission is to help women take control of their well-being with tailored solutions that truly make a difference.
I’m also lucky to be part of The Rx Grid, a network of independent pharmacy owners who support and learn from each other. This collaboration helps me stay at the forefront of innovation, ensuring I’m always offering the best care possible.
Outside of work, family is incredibly important to me. My husband, Charles, and I have a blended family of nine children and three grandchildren, and we cherish every moment spent with them. We also share a passion for traveling, always looking for new places to explore. Recently, I’ve discovered a newfound love for hiking, which has become a great way to unwind, stay active, and appreciate the beauty of nature.
I’m so grateful for the opportunity to serve my community, and I look forward to helping you on your health journey!

Dedicated to Your Care: About Our Pharmacist
Hi, my name is Mary, and I am the Pharmacist-In-Charge at Modern Health Pharmacy. I have been with the company since 2021 and transitioned to this role in 2023. I graduated from UW-Madison School of Pharmacy in 2015. I previously worked in retail community pharmacy before joining the team at Modern Health Pharmacy.
I enjoy collaborating with patients to find custom medication solutions for their health needs. I am always excited to create new formulations to help patients get on track to improved health.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family (husband, daughter, and son). We love going to water parks and camping. I also like to read and bake lots of sweets!
